Dr. Harris graduated from Bucknell University in Lewisburg,
Pennsylvania in 1976, majoring in chemistry and biology. He attended
Rutgers medical School in New Jersey, receiving his MD degree in 1980.
Dr. Harris completed his residency training at the University of
California-Davis Sacramento Medical Center in Family Medicine. There
he met his wife, Dr. Michelle Petrofes. The couple spent three years
with the National Health Service Corps on the Navajo Reservation in
Arizona before relocating to Reedsport.
Dr. Harris served on the Reedsport City Council for 10 years, the last
two as Council President until his term ended in 2000. He remains a
strong supporter of the Umpqua Discovery Center and serves on the
Fundraising UDC-Treasure Chest Board. He also serves on the Area
Trauma Advisory Board and assists with the Douglas County Medical
Examiner. Dr. Harris Maintains certification in Family Medicine with
the American Board of Family Practice.
Dale and Michelle have two teenage children, Abby and Patrick. He
and his wife enjoy a variety of outdoor activities.
